The 2007 survey follows on from earlier ones conducted 1998, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2006. A further survey is planned for 2008. This survey consisted of eight separate nationally representative samples of Ofsted registered settings - full day care; sessional care; out-of-school care; childminders; childrens centres; primary schools with nursery and reception classes; primary schools with reception but no nursery classes; and nursery schools. Telephone interviews were conducted and more than 8,000 providers were surveyed. The Technical Report to accomany this report has been published separately.
